Four years in the making, my skoolie is now for sale. (My wife and I
have, sadly, aged out of camping.) This bus is a unicorn in Ontario. It is
a 2004 Thomas-built, 35 foot bus. It spent its life as a school bus in the
state of Georgia, where it is too warm to salt the roads. I drove it home
to Ridgeway, Ontario in 2021, and never drove it on salted roads. So it
is close to rust-free. Most skoolies converted from buses from
anywhere in Canada will be rust buckets, requiring extensive
remediation before the skoolie build-out can begin.
With much effort and paperwork, the vehicle is registered with the
Canadian government, and with the Ministry of Transportation of
Ontario as a Motor Home (no longer a commercial vehicle. No
commercial license needed to drive it.)
I did the build-out with great care, using quality components and
materials. But don’t take my word for it: every step is documented on
my YouTube channel @TheSkoolieLife.
In addition to the $10,000 purchase price, components and materials
cost more than $40,000 and maintenance over $19,000. Asking
$42,000 or best offer.
The skoolie is currently plated and insured in Ontario. I’m selling it as I
bought it, on an “as is” basis.
