By design, 100% of the plumbing (fresh water and gray water) is in the
bus’s interior, to reduce the risk of freezing in the winter. All pipes are
Pex, and are 100% accessible should repairs be needed. (None ore
hidden in the floor or walls.) (See a detailed tour of the plumbing here.)
There is a 43-gallon freshwater tank mounted under the bed (the
garage.) A Shurflo 3GPM water pump delivers great pressure to the
kitchen and bathroom. An accumulator keeps the flow steady.
A whole-house 5 micron carbon water filter serves every tap. There is
even a whole-house UV water filter to kill any microbes in the water.
A tankless, on-demand propane water heater centrally located between
the kitchen and bathroom delivers hot water within seconds.
The gray water from the kitchen and bathroom sinks is collected in
three, 5 gallon jerry jugs under the kitchen sink. That’s a total capacity
of 15 gallons. This is a sound design choice for two reasons:
•
like the fresh water, the gray water is entirely contained within the
passenger area, to reduce the risk of freezing in the winter; and
•
there is no need to find an RV dumping station to empty gray water.
Each jerry jug, when full, can be walked over to any public or private
washroom and dumped in the toilet.
